Hello, My name is Jennifer Predmore and I am a sculpture student. I had to pick a few modern art pieces related to a theme throughout from 1980's to present day for my end of the year term paper. My theme is mythology and how it has changed in the modern era. I chose this piece of yours as one of works of art to talk about. Is there anything you can tell me about the piece? Perhaps what was going through your mind or what really inspired you? Or perhaps Why this subject was so important for you to paint at this period of your life? Or maybe what inspires you as an artist in general?
Thanks in advance for any help that you may be able give me
A refreshing take on a theme. The fish head Perseus is reminiscent of a Magritte. Didn't he do a fish head mermaid? Wonderful detail, especially with Andromeda's winged sandals. And the creature/Kraken: Exquisite! I love it! Very different; slimy and creepy and and....well done! I'm going to fav it!
I guess. It was one of my first experiments in art that looked kinda old-fashioned and 'masterful' so that I could get a "message" accross. That is, I wanted it to be good enough for people to look at it long enough to find it interesting. I'm so happy you think so ))
